Theola Spratt

In Loving Memory

Theola Isabella Spratt was born on October 15, 1948, in Rusk, Oklahoma, one of the state's earliest pioneering Black settlements. She was the second youngest of seven siblings, raised by her parents, Isaiah and Evelyn Shelton.

Her educational journey began in the humble classrooms of Okfuskee County where she attended grade school and high school. After graduating from Boley High School, she pursued higher education at Langston University, a historically Black university.

Theola married Luvell Spratt Jr., and together they raised two children, Rhonda and Luvell III. Before she transitioned, God blessed her with her first grandchild, Monique. She was later blessed with two more beautiful granddaughters, Christin and Maya.

To her loved ones, she was affectionately known as "Mitch." She was the heart and soul of her family and hosting gatherings, cooking meals that brought people together, and creating a home filled with laughter and love. Holidays and birthdays were her favorite times to celebrate those she cherished most.

Theola found joy in life’s simple pleasures: shopping, soap operas, trying new restaurants, traveling and spontaneous road trips. Her creative spirit shone through her love of fashion and interior design, and her talent as a seamstress. Many Sunday afternoons were spent sewing garments for her family. She also nurtured a beautiful garden, tending to flowers and plants with the same care she gave to people.

Her radiant smile, infectious laugh, and adventurous spirit left lasting impressions on everyone she met. Though her journey ended too soon, her legacy of love, warmth, and creativity continues to live on through her family and the countless memories she created.

In loving tribute, we honor her memory as "Bella Luve," a beautiful fusion of Rhonda's parents' names and a reflection of the enduring love shared by Rhonda's parents:

'Bella' - Short for Isabella | 'Luve' - Short for Luvell

Together, they reflect a symbol of love, strength, and unwavering dedication to our cause.

May her memory continue to be a blessing, guiding us with love and compassion through the days ahead.
